Retrodyne Amplification presents:
The Postman
There I was, wandering around the local Builder's Square when my eyes fell upon what could be
the ultimate 'alternative chassis material, low-budget category'. The voice in my head said "Build it...
and they will laugh."  Well, it says that other times too but I don't always listen. I needed a break
from current  projects and this layout exercise was a lot of fun...I thought I pushed the envelope
with this one.....with a Telefunken 12AU7 in the PI and a 12AY7 in the front it..... rang ....TWICE.
(groans) Best overall & most versatile sound was with the JJ12DW7.
Audiophile friends say the amp
sounds better with the flag in
the 'up' position.
dig the orientation of the laminations !
So close to PI... but very little hum
Preamp is built on 1/8th" G10. None of the
notes get lost in THIS system !  Most resistors
are CC.
Bass Response is great, proven with Dano
Baritone into Standel cab w/15" Jensen
'MOD" speaker. These speakers are a great
bargain!!  The Hound Dog Taylor Rig !!
The goals were  to combine some of the elements of
the fabled 5E3,  AC15 & Marshall 18Watt,  try the
new JJ 12DW7, and strike a blow against the
CloneZone. I'm amazed at the Neil Young/Broken
Arrow intense distortion capabilities of this little
screamer !!
Can you say 'Postal Beano' ?? Friends are stunned by how articulate the
amp is into a variety of speakers. We've tried G12M-25's, G12
Blue,G12H30, Jensen C12N RI, Jensen P15N, P15P, P15R, Vintage 30,
Eminence 12" 35-watt Alnico.
